I agree that ORMs lower the barrier of entry for creating a full stack app. But it's not just the suggestion of GORM. It's that it is often suggested as the solution and anything else is unviable. I think writing a web app and knowing how the database works are interlinked. It's incredibly valuable knowledge as a web developer IMO.
