I don't know if the author uses an iPhone, but I have personally enjoyed scanning old photo/video and then uploading it into my iCloud Photos account. If you edit the metadata the media shows up correctly in-place early on your chronological timeline. You can tag the location, and easily share. This has been the key to my photos archiving enjoyment. Get old digital camera pics off of old hard drives and servers and into the same private memories timeline that your smartphone uses.
