Isn't this very different from what they're requesting?
>something that empowers users and administrators to identify and protect themselves from bad actors
and
>enable law enforcement access to content in a readable and usable format
are completely different things, no? They're barely even related.
- Arathorn 6y agoThe idea is is this: * Enabling LE to read encrypted content == backdoor * Backdoor == unviable, because it weakens encryption for everyone, and will be abused. * Therefore, you need a way to help everyone (including LE) navigate/filter/investigate/discover/block content out there. Subjective reputation feeds give a way of doing so.
- parliament32 6y agoMaybe I'm missing something here, how does having a hashed lists of "bad" message IDs allow LE to navigate/investigate/discover content? From what I can see it only tells you there's something to block, and you can't even reverse it to "investigate" much of anything.
- Arathorn 6y agoOne approach could be to check public servers for "bad" content, and then use that as the entry point to investigate/infiltrate those communities.
