Arguing left-being-suppressed-more vs. right-being-suppressed-more doesn't necessarily need to be a zero-sum game.
As The Hill has started commenting, "If you are anti-establishment [anti-war, etc.] this will be coming for you."
- 0xy 6y agoGenuinely curious, are there left-leaning publications which are genuinely anti-war anymore? The New York Times beat the Iraq war drums with false information and CNN/WaPo/other usual suspects regularly do the same thing.
- KozmoNau7 6y agoAll of the mainstream "left-wing" publications are more centrist and neoliberal than anything. The Overton window has been moved so far right that they only seem vaguely left-wing in context of the overall media landscape. To actually find anti-war sentiments, you have to go to the small independent media.
- rbecker 6y ago> All of the mainstream "left-wing" publications are more centrist and neoliberal than anything. Depends on the topic. Ask them about mass immigration, and they'll be falling over each-other to tell you how great it is, while many European countries with much more limited immigration also have many policies considered left-wing in the US, such as state-funded universities and healthcare, strong social safety net, shorter prison sentences and better environmental and consumer protections. Or look at Thailand, where they have universal healthcare, but "amnesty" for illegal immigrants means they can leave without being punished: https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/10744 https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/10744
- timoth3y 6y agoThose are fairly centrist publications. If you want left-leaning you might want to check out The Nation or Mother Jones.
- 0xy 6y agoWhy is Mother Jones egging on Syrian rebels in yet another Middle Eastern war? [1] The rebel group they're supporting regularly commits war crimes including beheading men accused of working for the Syrian government. I'll give you The Nation though, they seem to be anti-interventionism.
- MeinBlutIstBlau 6y agoThe Jacobin is in my opinion. Although I don't engage with politics if at all anymore.
