lost way too much time the other day trying to figure out how to do encryption for a legacy PHP application. apparently it's incomprehensible to stack overflow writers that there are reasons i might want to know this beyond "implementing an unsafe login system". that said, this is talking about coworkers so maybe it is more appropriate when you can go back and forward on it
