I don't have a good answer. My original comment was just to point out that I don't believe social media can be treated like the telephone. From a legal/political standpoint SM is on new ground: a privately owned (i.e. non government) platform but with massive reach. Free speech laws are aimed at the government so should they be applied to private companies? I can understand both sides and I don't think there's an obvious solution.
