China’s Global Lockdown Propaganda Campaign
- just-juan-post 6y agoA well researched article with sources and citations. Please share this article everywhere. > In March, Chinese state media began describing the strategy of “herd immunity”—allowing the coronavirus to spread among the young and healthy—as a violation of “human rights,” an Orwellian formulation given that lockdowns are essentially a blanket suspension of rights. > Initially, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also opted for herd immunity. But on March 13, suspicious accounts began storming his Twitter feed and likening his plan to genocide. This language almost never appears in Johnson’s feed before March 12, and several of the accounts were hardly active before then. Britain locked down on March 23.
- arghwhat 6y agoWhile the article seems fine, what is up with the pre-added emphasis? It's borderline offensive.
- lazylizard 6y agoof course the problem is there are no good counter examples? except maybe japan and south korea? maybe thailand? and they're not nearly as successful at containing covid19 as china and vietnam. of course there are small countries that have done it too.. nz, sg.. yes taiwan is somewhere in the middle of that. but there's really nothing else quite like china and vietnam?
