PR dept dissolved just ahead of the "no questions" return policy. No questions, no problem.
- babesh 6y agoThey have a de facto PR department. Go ask Elon on Twitter. You may or may not get an answer.
- themantra514 6y agoElon only tweets to pump stonks with fomo insinuations or rage so I'll pass on that option. Ttyl heading out to the cottage in my tank, aka 1991 Toyota Camry :D
- babesh 6y agoI encourage everyone to make their own mind up with data instead of listening to someone else’s opinions. https://mobile.twitter.com/elonmusk https://mobile.twitter.com/elonmusk
- clouddrover 6y agoMusk uses Twitter to express himself. He says Twitter is a war zone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIzGdoPu9vs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIzGdoPu9vs
- babesh 6y agoLike I said, just look at the data. Does he or does he not answer questions people have? Expressing himself does not preclude him from answering questions. It’s logic. A being true does not preclude B being true unless B = not(A). https://mobile.twitter.com/elonmusk https://mobile.twitter.com/elonmusk
- clouddrover 6y agoHe uses Twitter to call people paedophiles: https://www.theverge.com/2018/7/19/17588574/elon-musk-twitter-cave-rescue-investors-tesla https://www.theverge.com/2018/7/19/17588574/elon-musk-twitte... Is that good PR or bad PR?
- danso 6y agoYou’re telling people to look at the data, by linking to his Twitter profile which shows around 12,600 tweets? Why don’t you try searching his mentions to get an idea of how many tweet questions he (nevermind Tesla) gets in a single day that go unanswered?
- babesh 6y agoSure. Go to Twitter and search for @elonmusk. I don’t know how or whether you can link to mentions. How many PR requests go unanswered?
- clouddrover 6y agoMost of them: https://jalopnik.com/teslas-pr-department-hasnt-responded-to-me-for-months-a-1845279798 https://jalopnik.com/teslas-pr-department-hasnt-responded-to... People have stopped bothering to ask because they don't get answers. To quote this article, "While The Drive would contact Tesla for an explanation of Gigafactory Berlin's situation, the automaker recently disbanded its communications department.": https://www.thedrive.com/news/37086/german-officials-shut-off-water-at-teslas-gigafactory-berlin-over-unpaid-bill https://www.thedrive.com/news/37086/german-officials-shut-of...

- martin8412 6y agoIsn't the guy banned from commenting on Tesla by the SEC?
- klyrs 6y agoDe jure? I believe so. De facto? He's still doing it
- tyre 6y agoHe’s supposed to have a lawyer review tweets. The first lawyer assigned to do this quit Tesla very soon after one of Elon’s (interviewed) inanities, which itself came very soon after the SEC action.
- zepearl 6y ago> He’s supposed to have a lawyer review tweets. Incredible how the world has changed during the last years :)
- emerongi 6y agoDidn't he outright say that no one actually reviews his tweets? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRNypdYQoWk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRNypdYQoWk

- pmiller2 6y agoThis might be the thing that sinks Tesla. The man is a lunatic. If I were on the board of Tesla, I’d want him the hell off Twitter entirely.

- SuoDuanDao 6y agoThere's a saying, I'm not sure as to the origin, 'If it looks crazy and it works, it's not crazy'. Not sure whether you'd disagree in this instance, but if so I'd sure like to know why.
- omgwtfbyobbq 6y agoIt's possible. It could be random corporate restructuring too, since they now have an "External Relations" department. https://www.prdaily.com/what-teslas-move-to-eliminate-its-pr-department-means-for-the-industry/ https://www.prdaily.com/what-teslas-move-to-eliminate-its-pr... My employer loves to move people around while creating and dissolving groups. I've had a few title/group changes where literally nothing about what I did changed. I suspect they do that because it allows them to couch terminations as layoffs. Just move everyone you want gone into a new group and lay off that group. It's not personal when the whole group is being downsized.
