What are some practical uses of a Lidar on a phone? Are there any that would be considered game changing in the present ecosystem?
Asked another way: do I care about having a Lidar on my phone?
- castratikron 6y ago"Apple says lidar will enhance the iPhone's camera by allowing more rapid focus, especially in low-light situations. And it may enable the creation of a new generation of sophisticated augmented reality apps."
- hooloovoo_zoo 6y agoMaybe there could be some measurement-based applications? Automatic clothes measurements for Stitchfix? Automatic IPD measurement for Warby Parker?
- m463 6y agoMy phone doesn't have lidar and hunts around for focus. Or focuses plain wrong. What's worse is that sometimes you take a picture (like of text) and it looks ok on the phone screen, but later when you check it's completely out of focus. also there's distance measurement, and 3D shape/size estimation, but honestly I think fast/accurate focus will be the most awesome use case.
