Well, what I think dvse was saying was that pragmatic thinking (only) will lead to such a situation. I.e., we also need unrelenting people who are not pragmatic, who upholds their principles. Like Stallman. That doesn't mean that you have to be Stallman, just that it might be a good strategy to accept people who choose to live as they learn.
