I personally know at least one rationalist who is amongst the wealthiest people in the world and got there at least in part as a direct consequence of his rationalist interests, uses the lingo etc. (No, I won’t say who it is) That being said most people who self-identify as rationalists are significantly held back by (a) lack of charisma (b) the fact that they believe that their elaborate mental constructs are reality. Of course these are just another mental narrative, and not even a particularly useful one.
