Rationalism is hydrofluoric acid. It silently creeps inside you and hollows out essential parts of you when you thought it was just a tool helpful for dissolving some external problem. You start with a problem, and instead of solving the problem, you end up just losing your desire for the solution. It's our nature to be self obsessed. So when we learn a new way of thinking, we cannot help but make ourselves the primary target of it. And nothing will disabuse you of a deeply held, arational, intensely motivational heroic narrative like the tools of rationalism.
