I have often wondered if this can relate to whether someone is ‘good at math’ What if how it works is: we each see some math problems and symbols and make a guess as to how it works. If we are right, we decide we are good at math. If we are wrong we decide we are bad at math. Identity forms, then it is hard to revise your self assessment.
