If another state had the IP and non compete protections of California, had some wealthy former startup employees to found VCs, a liberal culture that celebrates risk (and its own arrogance, perhaps) then Silicon Valley might be threatened. And I can't be the only person that's tried to leave California only to realize that everything but the housing costs are worse elsewhere.
