How long before we start seeing traditional car manufacturers just incorporating this into their vehicles? Why develop your own ADAS software when Comma.AI and OpenPilot can just plugin into their hardware?
- qznc 6y agoIt would have to be much cheaper. I would guess a front camera from a Tier-1 supplier will cost the manufacturer some millions in development (fitting in physically, UI, and protocols) and then a few hundred per device once. Tier-1s optimize for every cent for mature features like ACC as the margins are low.
