X-ray inspection is indeed done for critical parts. I found reference to cosmetic interior 3D printed parts being used in production to test the waters. I don't work in anything related to human safety, and I think very few parts on an airframe would be suited to 3D printing (surely something though). If you're coming from that background it makes sense to be very skeptical. But as another commenter mentioned, some aircraft engine parts are already 3D printed.
