otherwise it's mostly just a power trip for the interviewer and a lousy signal.
oh, and people who like problem #19 on project euler shouldn't be interviewing humans.
In fact programmers should not be interviewing other programmers at all, it's not their job.

In a scenario where a programmer leads a team of programmers, why shouldn't they get a say in who will be on the team? Who else would be in a better position to judge team fit? Or aptness at the daily tasks?
