- Groxx 6y agoThe long-available one is similar to how siri / shazam / etc work - it only detects the actual song. I forget how the audio fingerprinting works (probably varies by system anyway), but they tend to be pretty picky and very sensitive to small timing or frequency changes on "interesting" audio points. E.g. even quite-true-to-the-original covers often fail to find matches for me.
