As far as I understand, the code inside the macro has to be syntatically valid Python? I think it would be cool to have sql baked directly into Python, something like: t = pd.DataFrame(mydata) sql!: t = select new_col=col1 + col2 from t But I don't think this PEP would support that, since "t = select new_col=col1 + col2 from t" isn't valid Python syntax.
