P2P Protocol on Kickstarter Aiming to End Big Tech Censorship – For Good
- chovy 6y agoso zero censorship has been tried over and over and failed miserably. Unless you like CP.
- elrosguy 6y ago"However as internet censorship becomes an ever more prevalent issue, individuals and businesses are discovering that they cannot rely on central services to host their content. Legislation has failed to provide rights for creators and cannot be relied upon as an ultimate solution. A protocol that guarantees censorship-resistance and anonymity is necessary for truly reliable distribution software." There have been attempts at creating something like this, and just a couple of projects that look similar, but never has something like this actually been built. And if Elros are the first people to do it, I feel like they're opening up a juggernaut of a Pandora's Box. Think about it...
- geoah 6y agoThe kickstarter page lacks any technical information around how the transport, discovery, and payment protocols would work and what underlying technologies they might use. The rewards are not actually rewards but rather donations, the “last for 1k years” part seems naive, and I’m not quite sure what “zero sum internet” means. I’d me more than interested in backing a project such as this, but I’d need something more concrete around the design, implementation, and roadmap. Diaspora is a good example for such a kickstart page. Even though their results were horrible.
- elrosguy 6y agoI believe, and possibly in response to your comment, they seemed to of added a FAQ page on the Kickstarter which documents most of what you asked, and is most of their whitepaper. You should check it out!
- nflstion 6y agoThis seems like a necessary project in these current times of big tech censorship. Id imagine they're having trouble rasing funds hence the Kickstarter, but this is something ive been thinking about being necessary to exist for a while now, im glad to see this. Will definitely be donating to the KS.
- encryptid 6y agoWith yesterday's and today's revelations of big tech censorship, as seen on Twitter, this project has me extremely exctied.
- bugman69 6y agoseems a whole lot better of an idea than that dumpster fire Parler
- basedredpilled 6y agoJust pledged. Looking forward to this, hope they meet their goal.
