Dumb question:
Shouldn't "room temperature" include in its definition about one atmosphere of pressure?
I can tell you that I wouldn't want to experience "room temperature" 30,000 km above sea level.
- Arnavion 6y agoRoom temperature plus one atm pressure is a separate term, STP - "Standard temperature and pressure". (Of course it's hilariously not "S" at all, because no one can agree whether the "T" is 0 deg C or 25 deg C or somewhere in between. But when we're talking about room-temperature superconductors that's not really a big deal.)
- Qwertious 6y agoOkay, should we be talking about "STP semiconductors" then? I doubt anyone envisioning 'room temperature superconductors' was envisioning a diamond anvil.
- drdeca 6y agothere's the concept of "standard temperature and pressure" , "stp" , which iirc is 0 celcius at the same pressure as there is at sea level. Room temperature means room temperature. Room temperature and 1 atmosphere of pressure means room temperature and 1 atmosphere of pressure.
