Downfall of Firefox: “Recommended by Pocket” now with browser game ads
- martin_a 6y agoSeems like Mozilla/Firefox is going down more and more. Just got an ad in my "Recommended by Pocket" list on the new tab page. (The one on the right, with some clumsy machine-translated German it seems.) And not even a good one, but one for those nasty, dubious Free-to-Play but Pay-to-Win games. What a down fall.
- dvtrn 6y agoI’m ok with “Recommended by Pocket” as a user of Pocket and it seems to do a decent job finding interesting articles (my definition of “interesting” is a pretty wide net though, since I read everything). These garbage-ass freemium game ads can gtfo though.
- uberman 6y agoDo you have a counter proposal on how they should make money outside of Google's charity? Would you rather they sell your data than show you an ad?
- martin_a 6y agoWell, I'm tired of this tape, but: Cut some heads and wages in the upper management, focus strictly on Firefox and one or two other projects and don't do bullshit that burns money. All of a sudden you'll have a great product, a clear mission and people will start liking and supporting you. Anything is better than getting into bed with these "game studios".
