paid time off not just time off
- Barrin92 6y agoI'm not aware of any other country in which voting is not a paid holiday (or on sundays which many countries have outlawed regular work on), in particular for what is the most important election in the nation. Has a perverse logic to it though, probably depresses turnout from ordinary working people the most.
- xen0 6y agoThe UK holds elections on work days and does not mandate time off. However, there are a lot polling stations, your assigned one will not be far away from your registered address, and you just need to arrive there by 10pm. And it's easy to get a postal vote.
- nextaccountic 6y agoNot having paid time off just suppresses the vote of those that earns less
- nitinreddy88 6y agoThats how it supposed to be. In India, its completely illegal to run any company/warehouse/anything on that day. Its completely paid leave for all organizations.
- cdmckay 6y agoHeaven forbid a company give paid time off so its workers can exercise a civic duty.
