It seems strange to me that the statutory obligation to perform a census every 10 years has been interpreted as being more a requirement to do something every 10 years, than to actually perform a "actual Enumeration". You don't need to perform an actual enumeration, you just need to make sure whatever you've decided to do is done every 10 years.
- black_puppydog 6y agoWell just because you understand the word "census" to mean "enumeration" that doesn't mean it has to be that for everyone. I mean, who are you, the word police? There is no such thing. Trump can say whatever he wants, that's freedom of speech babyyyyy! So he can for example say "census schmensus" and that will totally be protected speech. :) edit just to be absolutely sure this is not misunderstood: /s
- Traster 6y agoFor those that don't understand the sarcasm, the "enumeration" part is quite literally text from article 1 of the constitution.
- dariusj18 6y agoThe census is a function of Congress, so all Congress needs to do is pass a law to tell the executive to proceed with the census. This among many things is the effect of the election of people whose goal is the make government worse for their own gain.
