Virginia’s Online Voter Registration Portal Went Down on Deadline Day
- fred_is_fred 6y agoI see a lot of claims about intentional cuts on Twitter, but wouldn't it take a lot of work to figure out which fibre to cut and then go show up and start digging? A DDoS attack seems like it would be much simpler and probably at least as effective.
- iron0013 6y agoNot if you’re a blue collar conservative who’s more familiar with a backhoe than a computer. To me, this is reminiscent of the print shop that recently sabotaged thousands of NYC mail-in ballots: obvious, but in theory plausibly deniable.
- LatteLazy 6y agoNot saying it actually happened but... cut literally any fibre then turn off the server and you have the best of both worlds...
- LatteLazy 6y agoThe site should be brought back up and the deadline extended by however long it was down for. Also, wtf? The vote isn't for 3 full weeks. Registering someone to vote should take 5 minutes for 99% of people. Got ID? Welcome onto the list!
