Ask HN: Which note-taking app are you using currently?
- nikivi 6y agoSublime Text. https://wiki.nikitavoloboev.xyz/other/wiki-workflow https://wiki.nikitavoloboev.xyz/other/wiki-workflow
- Multicomp 6y agoMostly onenote. My personal dokuwiki when i need to be computer-hardware-agnostic.
- kmarc 6y agoJoplin https://joplinapp.org/ https://joplinapp.org/ Pros: - markdown with a lot of extensions - full-text search across all notes - browser extension to clip a page into markdown (or full html) - vim mode - can open externally in vim - syncs into folder (with syncthing can even sync across devices while not connected to the internet) Cons: - very bad, almost unusable android app - "proprietary" hashed markdown filenames instead of standard file layout
- thecodrr 6y agoI find built-in sync very useful in Evernote but the pricing has been a bit of a challenge lately. I am looking to switch. What would you recommend as a cheaper alternative.
- llimos 6y agoWorkflowy when it's simple and I need it synced to the cloud. Obsidian when it's local and I need full markdown.
- thecodrr 6y agoHow is the encryption/locking support in Workflowy?
- aristofun 6y agoTickTick and iOS notes app
- thecodrr 6y agoTickTick is cross-platform right? Why use multiple apps? I can barely handle EverNote. If it wasn't as expensive, I'd never think of switching.
- aristofun 6y agoNotes is for sharing stuff with other iOS users mostly. And TickTick is for personal todos. Though I use both quite infrequently.
- dyingkneepad 6y agoZim Desktop Wiki for work stuff. Google Keep to share grocery/shopping lists with my wife.
- approxim8ion 6y agoText files in Markdown. Folder structure for "notebooks" and nested notebooks/sections. Syncthing for sync with my Android phone. Vim with vim-markdown-preview on Desktop, and Markor on Android. Works fine for me.
