This is cool but doesn't use my most frequent use of Google Maps or Apple Maps: checking to see where traffic accidents are before leaving. Portland has freeways running north/south (more or less) on the West side (I5) and East side (I205). Sometimes, one of them will be significantly slowed because of accidents or some other unspecified cause. After being stuck on the freeway once or twice, it's now our habit to check the route for traffic. What's normally the fastest route can be the slowest because of traffic.
