Nope, I'm pretty sure that was taken directly from Henry Ford's playbook. Cars at one time were basically only sold in black. But the theory is the same as with the iphone and Tesla: If you are the wanted thing of the time, you don't have to offer so much. Luckily, there are a lot more choices - but I might have a skewed opinion on the choices. I'm in Norway, and electric vehicles are everywhere here (and the infrastructure is growing at a fast pace as well). Folks can always get an aftermarket paint job if they want, though.
