1. 'Misleading Information' is a targeted category, specified only by manual intervention, leaving the door wide open for selective enforcement and biased enforcement.
2. The 'context' they put in the 'Trending' section is often highly editorialized and skewed. An example from yesterday:
> Celebrities · Trending
> Mel Gibson
> People are expressing disappointment that Mel Gibson has been cast in a new film.
> 18.2K Tweets
Mountain out of a molehill, selectively chosen, click-bait editorializing ('people are expressing') - none of this is helpful, and doubling down on it as the only content to put in that pane seems quite foolish.
- SoSoRoCoCo 6y ago> 1. 'Misleading Information' is a targeted category, specified only by manual intervention, leaving the door wide open for selective enforcement and biased enforcement. The "slippery slope" should definitely be on everyone's mind as this enforcement is rolled out, but it should not stop the enforcement. Otherwise your statement becomes the "if we can't fix everything we should fix nothing" fallacy. I agree that the enforcement needs to be monitored, and also that the enforcement needs to be done. Not mutually-exclusive. There are absolutely agreed-upon lies today: there isn't a deep state of vampire child rapists running the country. Fight me. ;-)
- Fellshard 6y agoTrue, but such enforcement requires accountability and governance in that case - things that they have shown no interest in adopting. There is a consistent penchant among normal, biased 'fact-checkers' to call sympathetic views 'mostly true' in the face of glaring falsehoods, and antagonistic views 'mostly false' in the presence of any minor nitpick; nothing unusual as far as bias goes, but expecting these orgs to play governance roles is clearly unsuitable.
- SoSoRoCoCo 6y ago> things that they have shown no interest in adopting Can you explain what you mean by this? Because that's literally what they (twitter) have been trying to do for the past 4 years: toeing the line between censorship and handling an administration that delivers a constant stream of demonstrable and egregious lies.

Even if he did they were only Republicans and even if they weren't they were.
- AI_WAIFU 6y agoAlso "Misleading information" is whatever the mechanical turk being used to put together the training set says it is. You can be almost 100% certain that they are not even going to bother to do a google search on the topic because that will lower the performance metrics that are used to pay them.
