- mwfunk 6y agoNot to mention that blaming anything on antifa makes about as much sense as blaming gremlins or poltergeists or Santa. At this point someone even using the word "antifa" with a straight face while they make scary-sounding pronouncements about unrest deserves to be written off and forgotten by the entire freaking human race for all time. It is freaking embarrassing to be an American right now and there's exactly one political party to blame.
- bleepblorp 6y agoHistorical precedents from other societies that have collapsed into despotism make it very clear that the US is in a very dangerous place. The fact that so many Americans are in denial (or ignorant) of the risks just increases the danger. "It'll all work out, it always has" isn't a prudent response to a political environment that has proto-Brownshirts running loose, looking for ways to kidnap elected officials. This kind of thing doesn't usually end well for anyone except for the people who lead the Brownshirts.
- noir_lord 6y agoOften Not even them eventually. The canonical example been Hitlers senior leadership. They either died in the war, committed suicide or where hung. The problem with leading a dangerous savage beast is keeping it travelling away from you.
- Gibbon1 6y agoBig mistake with Hitler was when he went after members of his own party in the night of the long knives. Was not understanding he was consolidating his power by getting rid of anyone that could turn is party against him.
- barnesto 6y agoThat's a nice Democratic talking point. First made by Rashida Talib. And absolutely not true. It's a group of anarchists. They would listen to Trump's tweets about as much as you would... unless it's to form a narrative. - Splendor 6y agoRemind me, which party does the target of their kidnapping plot belong to?
- roflc0ptic 6y ago"The constitution is an anarchist document." That has precious little to do with actual anarchist thought. Homeboy was not reading Kroptokin or Murray Bookchin.

- js2 6y agoHomeland Threat Assessment - October 2020 The Terrorist Threat to the Homeland Violent Extremism in the United States The primary terrorist threat inside the United States will stem from lone offenders and small cells of individuals, including Domestic Violent Extremists (DVEs) and foreign terrorist-inspired Homegrown Violent Extremists. [...] Among DVEs, racially and ethnically motivated violent extremists—specifically white supremacist extremists (WSEs)—will remain the most persistent and lethal threat in the Homeland. Spikes in other DVE threats probably will depend on political or social issues that often mobilize other ideological actors to violence, such as immigration, environmental, and police-related policy issues. WSEs have demonstrated longstanding intent to target racial and religious minorities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, politicians, and those they believe promote multi-culturalism and globalization at the expense of the WSE identity. Since 2018, they have conducted more lethal attacks in the United States than any other DVE movement. https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/2020_10_06_homeland-threat-assessment.pdf https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/2020_10...
- pjc50 6y agoIt's not really surprising that the 2nd amendment lot who've been talking up the right to violently overthrow the government for as long as I've been on the Internet might eventually try it.
- zaroth 6y agoThe Michigan Supreme Court agreed with Trump when they ruled last week that Whitmer's unilateral continued declaration of a state of emergency an unconstitutional abuse of power. > Criticizing the Emergency Powers of Governor Act for giving Whitmer “concentrated and standardless power to regulate the lives of our people,” the majority held that the law was unconstitutional because it violated the nondelegation doctrine.
