Since there seems to be a lot of confusion as to what is being spun off and what is being kept... Think of IBM as: - Hardware - Software/Cloud - Services Within "Services" you have everything from business/management consultants to application development teams to people who support IT infrastructure for clients as part of outsourcing arrangements. It's that last group, Infrastructure Support, that is being spun off.
