Tangentially: How does one manage a monorepo based on git?
- qznc 6y agoI don't believe git is a good tool if you have more than 50 developers. It doesn't scale well enough. Yes, i know that Microsoft made it work somehow but I'm not sure if i would like to replicate that. Even with shallow clone and sparse checkout, you have to download at least the HEAD of the repo completely. Git cannot restrict read access within a repository. Branches and tags are global and visible to everybody, so you cannot have many of them.
