I wish I could use monorepos more often! The only legitimate reason I have encountered so far for not using a monorepo is open-source dependencies that the company maintains patches to/contributes changes to. In this sort of situation, you'll want to have them in their own repository so that you can go from "foolib v5 plus our changes" to "foolib v6 plus our changes" without too much fuss.
