I usually take a REST-like approach when dealing with people on the internet. With most people I just don't keep track of who they are beyond the end of the conversation because it's a waste of time. If we get to discuss again, I will judge that new discussion on its own merit. Interestingly, this way of thinking has lead me to stop reading user names a lot of the time.
