How does plastic end up in the ocean? I would have assumed it was through littering or the fishing industry[0], but perhaps some of it is debris that blows from landfill to waterways?

A number of places around the world still use the local river as a city dump. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYMuh-5V9fk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYMuh-5V9fk Portions of that garbage will eventually make it to an ocean. Especially plastics due to the simple fact that it floats.
