Yeah I don’t get the decentralized part... I feel like there is this logical leap from “self-signed HTTP requests” to “decentralized data” that skips a few steps that are obvious to someone who has been working on this for years but completely opaque to me.

No, the author is just BSing and people are afraid to point out the emperor has no clothes because they don't want to be revealed as fools.
