- xenospn 6y agoThis is less about liberty and more about starting a full blown civil war. Do you think minority groups will be allowed to form militias if these guys had their way?
- somewhereoutth 6y agoOne of the defining characteristics of a functioning state (what you might call civilization) is a monopoly on violence. Conversely, the existence of unsanctioned militias (e.g. cartel gunmen in Central America) indicates a failing or failed state. What you think of as your 'liberty' is in fact a construction of the state provided to you (not by you) - your playpen if you will. If the state fails, your playpen will collapse, and perhaps only death would save you from the horrors thus unleashed.
