Not only this, but play talk seems “silly” to adults and is not widely seen as acceptable. Trying to learn new vocabulary during a hearing or negotiation just isn’t going to happen. I recall being overseas and hanging out with 1st and second graders and none of us had any shame just asking “what is this?!” And pointing at a rock or a tree or a ball and correcting each other. I learned more practical vocab in a few hours from a 6yr old than from studying in a book over a week.
