Green Computing – Network traffic is already bad enough (about 45% of the total energy consumption of IT), but adding Bitcoin to this, which is effectively creating a unique event by a metric of presumably unsustainable energy consumption and related costs, may be just a bit(coin) too much.

- johnpaulkiser 6y agoThat question doesn't make a whole lot of sense so I'll answer another one. Do off-chain transactions need to be mined using proof of work? No.
- masswerk 6y agoMind that as long as you are doing Bitcoin, it's all about proof of work (it's what creates the unique event the data is tied to).
