honestly, a single rabbitmq node on a really big machine can handle a ton of messages without problems. now that rabbitmq clustering is actually working (~7y ago it was basically impossible to setup clustering without having huge headaches), you can easily setup 3~5 machines in cluster and never have a single issue.
