Does anyone have any indication as to how long the ruling will take for this? It's not articulated and this is a very big ruling.

- jcranmer 6y agoFor a case argued in October, a quick decision for a 9-0 case (or I guess 8-0 in the current court) that involves settling a circuit split or something else that's just simple textual analysis would come out in late November or December. This is probably going to be complicated. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 8-0 outcome, but there's likely to be a concurring opinion or two, which will make the decision take longer. My expectation is that the opinion will come out in the January-March timeframe. By way of comparison, Bilski v Kappos (the first big patent case in recent years) was a 9-0 case argued in November whose opinions only came out in the end-of-year opinion blitz.
