I think that's what bothers me most about technology hiring these days. There is more testing and mini-projects than ever. It's not uncommon to spend half a day just going through first rounds for companies. I'd love something like: make it to the second round and we will compensate you for your time going through the vetting process. Then I'd know they value my time and are serious.
