Seriously... prove the opposite to be true then, that the majority of Europeans - in this case Dutch and Swedes for easier comparison - support either the current level or an increased level of migration.
For what it is worth, De Telegraaf has been moving more to the middle and in some cases going towards the left of the middle since the paper was taken over by the Belgian Mediagroep. Even before that time it might have been more right-wing in the context of Dutch publishers but that context is important, had the paper been published in e.g. the USA it would have been deemed 'liberal'.
You're still fond of labeling I see, try to write a message without those labels for a change. It certainly will help getting your message across to those who lump in all 'labelled' communications in the same bin, that of the internet-equivalent of a tabloid. It also helps you formulate your message more precisely since you'll have to elaborate on what exactly makes a publication like De Telegraaf different from e.g. De Volkskrant, NRC, AD, Het Parool or Trouw - just to name a few of the larger Dutch news publications.
Demoskop in Sweden is the opinion poll organisation used by the left-wing Aftonbladet, the news publication owned and run by the Swedish labour union and controlled by the social democratic party. More questions?
- tluyben2 6y agoI am a programmer, obviously I label stuff; it is my job. I do not have to prove majority; the point was that ‘no one in the eu’ agrees with the course of action on immigration. This is plain crap as I do not know any of the people who would vote Agree in the polls you linked. We must move in different circles. Sure I hear of loudmouths whining and making it appear as they are the general opinion. We have it better here than most of the world, so it is bored (as you do not have to work very hard in a lot of parts of the EU to have a nice life) people who sit behind their geraniums crying that their immigrant neighbour has a bigger Prius and need to whine about things (which is very dutch, although apparently we are some of the happiest people on earth according to polls you value so much) while they do not have a solution. They mostly do not want these people to die, but they do not want them shelters next door. I have no different solution, nor do you, so the current way will continue, whining or no whining. People are not massively protesting immigration so the sideline whiners can fill out a poll but otherwise do not leave their house (which they probably got from the state); any protests are a few 100, less than we get against zwarte piet. In the village I grew up in, Geldermalsen, there was an actual riot of a handful of people against immigration to a center there; I saw the videos and pics friends sent via/via; I know most of the people and/or their parents in the video: all extreme right voters and racists. The dutch biblebelt is no picnic. There were not very many of them though; they just made a lot of noise...
- Yetanfou 6y ago> I am a programmer, obviously I label stuff; it is my job. Not everything is programming though, discussions on boards like these being a good example of such. Social interaction is not programming. I'll just point you at yet another poll from Sweden, this one from another institute - Sifo - and published in another newspaper - SvD (Svenska Dagbladet) - with exactly the same outcome as the one from Demoskop: 58% of respondents want a reduction in migration [1]. You come across like someone with a black-and-white view of the world, possibly partly due to your stated profession of programmer. My advice to you is to go out into the world a bit more, speak to people outside of your own circle. Those people you so easily put in a box labelled 'racist' or 'right-wing' might actually have some insights which you lack. If you think more than half of the Swedish and Dutch population is 'racist' and 'right-wing' the problem lies with you, not with those you try to stamp and label.
