Ask HN: What are the best sites to get book recommendations?

I often struggle a bit to find something new to read after I finish a book on my Kindle. Despite having my entire reading history for the last few years, most of Amazon’s recommendations might as well be generated at random. I’ve tried Goodreads, which is maybe a bit better but still not that impressive, it feels like it is just showing me highly rated books from categories I’ve read rather than anything cleverer. Are there any sites/services out there which give better recommendations? I’m mainly thinking fiction here, but not exclusively. I’m happy to share my Kindle history in order to do this, if that’s possible. I guess I’m imaging something as relevant as, for example, Spotify’s recommendations! It would also be interesting to get people’s input on why it is (apparently) more challenging to do this for books rather than music.
