Could this be used to lower the repulsion between atoms to make fusion require less energy?
- ben_w 6y agoIs be surprised. Muon catalysed fusion can do that, but if my understanding is correct (it may well not be), that’s because the higher mass of the muon means it can be more localised in space, and this wouldn’t have that effect.
- gus_massa 6y agoThis only changes the "position" of the electrons. It doesn't help with the repulsion of the nuclei. (Perhaps this may help to induce electron capture https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electron_capture https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electron_capture ???)
