Ask HN: how should I start planning for making a real-life complex website?
I have got a client who wants a fully professionally working e-commerce website with hosting services as well as marketing & SEO. I am ready to take the challenge as I have just graduated and excited but so far I have made college-level or can say small level websites without a lot of server load and hosting services. What should I take care before starting so that I won't realize later and save myself from facing big trouble? And how should I start planning for it? I am much familiar with Django so will go with it only. What else should I consider to learn for such a big project in order to make it less headache later on? Already grateful to you if you can provide any suggestions.

- pjustin 6y agookay, thanks.
- ApolloRising 6y agoDon't build it from scratch, leverage Shopify or another major vendor who has done a lot of security work on it. You are just asking for a lot of pain if you try and do all that yourself.
