New Mojave Supplemental Update released that fixes issues caused by older update
- gnicholas 6y agoIf you're on Mojave and you go to Software Update within System Preferences, it will show your available update as macOS Catalina. You have to click "More info" under "Another update is available." to get the Mojave update. Not cool!
- MrMacintoshBlog 6y agoApple would realllllllly like you to upgrade to Catalina haha It's not like Catalina is not having it's own issues right now... https://mrmacintosh.com/catalina-10-15-7-update-accountsd-using-400-if-using-icloud-mail/ https://mrmacintosh.com/catalina-10-15-7-update-accountsd-us...
- smcleod 6y agoNote that while still getting support, this is a legacy operating system and was replaced by macOS Catalina (10.15) back in October 2019, which is soon to be replaced by macOS Big Sur (10.16).
- dylan604 6y agoAnd I am thankful for it as I'm still running Mojave on my daily driver laptop.
- fiddlerwoaroof 6y agoYeah, I just upgraded from High Sierra. :)
- cosmotic 6y agoI'm still running High Sierra. There's nothing compelling in Mojave, Catalina, or Big Sur. They remove features I use and make the operating system generally worse. From all the news I've seen Catalina has been very buggy.
- gnicholas 6y agoI don't mind Mojave, but I do sort of wish I were still on High Sierra. I will get a new computer because I hate my keyboard (2017 MBP), at which time I'll be forced into an OS update. Not looking forward to it.
- skinnymuch 6y agoMojave gets Safari 14. Which hopefully gets more extensions soon. Outside of that. Yeah no clue what benefit I am getting.
- _qulr 6y ago> Note that while still getting support, this is a legacy operating system What does this even mean, other than that 10.14 is not the latest major macOS version, which we all already know, indeed can't ignore in Software Update?
- FandangoRanger 6y agoI never upgraded from Mojave and plan not to, I will retire my Mac Mini as an OS X machine sooner or later (once Apple stops updates). Mojave just seems like a giant pain and I have some iTunes Applescripts from ages ago that I don't want to mess with or re-engineer for Music or whatever it's called now. Does Apple even still support Applescript? I don't keep up on Apple any more.
- skinnymuch 6y agoI believe Apple scripts are supported. Haven’t heard anything to the contrary.
- FandangoRanger 6y agoThat's just the thing though, Apple isn't going out of its way to tell me their plans. A couple years ago Apple decided to get rid of all my notes I had made in files in the Get Info tab's notes field. They switched the field to "tags" and simply threw away all the notes in all the resource forks, rather than even converting them to tags. About ten thousand notes, destroyed, no notification this would happen, nothing.
- kstenerud 6y agoNow they just need to release an update to fix the xcode 12.0.1 fix. I'd like to be able to install simulators again...
- clairity 6y agoit looks like you have to install the bad older update "Security Update 2020-005" along with the "Supplemental Update" if you hadn't already installed the bad update in the first place, which seems odd at first, but sorta makes sense on second thought.
- MrMacintoshBlog 6y agoThey re-released the Security Update 2020-005. Have not had the chance to see if it changed from the last version. I can say for sure that the Build Version did not change.
- y7 6y agoGiven that Mojave is the last version of macOS that supports 32-bit programs and arbitrary kexts, and that doesn't have ridiculous call-home mechanics for every program invocation, I hope Apple supports Mojave for as long as possible.
- MrMacintoshBlog 6y agoAgreed. Once Big Sur comes out in about 2 weeks, Mojave will have one more year of security updates.
