As someone who grew up with a small handful of delinquents (in and out of prison etc), they are not the types to be able to hold a regular job like a normal person. Often there is a personality disorder (borderline disorder, antisocial disorder, often a few disorders together) which doesn't magically go away with maturity and opportunity.
