There is no one-size-fits-all. I do the same because our product is not well-defined. But I assume for a longer-standing, more defined piece of software, there may be a need to clearly specify and spec out the flow even if just to explain that to other stakeholders, teams, etc.
Code is awesome but not everybody will or is meant to read it. Yet, they still need to be able to know.
