Do you have a dual GPU laptop? Kitty uses more CPU than say Konsole but I can't imagine it using 30w - likely it wakes up the dGPU when it shouldn't. I use it all the time on my ThinkPad with iGPU and haven't noticed any big battery differences from when I was using Konsole.
- matheusmoreira 6y agoYes. I have a Clevo laptop with an nvidia GTX 1070 GPU. I'm using the proprietary drivers and have hybrid graphics disabled in the firmware settings. I monitor the power usage of the GPU at all times. It idles at ~8 W and spikes to 30~40 W every time Kitty is in the foreground. That's comparable to running RetroArch with some shaders. The Intel GPU caused kernel panics during video decoding last time I tried using it so I do not have any power usage data for it.
